What the workforce wants from the workplace in 2023

Rewind to pre-COVID-19 and the majority of South Africa’s workplace was centered around the traditional ‘9 to 5’. Employees would clock in, perform a set of tasks, and clock out. And while the more innovative employers were reinventing the wheel to meet the ever-changing needs of the workforce, many were left behind.

Fast forward to today and the new workplace is designed around the needs of a new generation of workers, comprising millennials and most recently Gen Z. The workplace has been redesigned to promote an exciting company culture that connects and inspires the team. It’s all about a flat structure that promotes collaboration, growth, and creativity and gives rise to a new era of ‘intrapreneurs’.

Intrapreneurs are employees who see themselves as an integral part of the business, willing to work towards its overall growth while nurturing their own development. Naturally, this mindset will take some time to develop in larger corporates, but in a business-like Galetti’s, this concept has helped to accelerate the business, so much so that the company has grown three-fold in recent years.
