Transitioning into Commercial Real Estate
At Galetti, we take pride in nurturing talent and providing growth opportunities. Today, we highlight @tania amien , a former dance instructor turned commercial property consultant, who quickly found her footing and closed two deals within her first three months, a remarkable achievement for any new broker.
Tania’s journey into commercial real estate is nothing short of unique. With a background as a dance instructor and sales consultant at Virgin Active, teaching was her passion until she spontaneously found herself in a conversation about Galetti and what we do.
“I like being in front of people, helping them, and engaging with them. In Commercial Real Estate, it is a different product, but the same skills,” Tania explains.
Her curiosity and eagerness to challenge herself drove her to step out of her comfort zone and dive into this new industry. Tania’s first deal involved securing a prime retail space at Oudehuis Centre in Somerset West for I-CARE Enterprises. The tenant initially had a lot of hesitation and doubts about the lease agreement – causing anxiety and frustration. Tania’s patience and ability to communicate helped the tenant understand the costs involved and feel secure in the negotiation, leading to a successful deal. Reflecting on this experience,
Tania said, “Being my first deal, it was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, especially when I thought I could lose it. But it was exciting getting to know the landlord and the tenants. I was grateful for the positive and encouraging feedback I received from both sides.”
The tenant moved into the new space, fit it out beautifully, and was grateful for Tania’s guidance and support. Tania’s second deal was for prime office space in the highly sought-after Techno Park, Stellenbosch, for Mr. Billings and Recons. The tenant was initially looking elsewhere for a lower rate and was concerned about her office furniture being exposed to the weather. Tania explained the concept of Beneficial Occupation (BO) to the tenant, which allowed her to move in earlier and protect her belongings. This information, which other brokers hadn’t provided, secured the tenant’s decision to go with Galetti. Despite some delays in finalizing the lease agreement, Tania’s persistence and clarity in communication ensured the tenant’s satisfaction and a successful deal.
Tania’s journey in commercial real estate has been marked by her quick adaptation and resilience.
“I was very overwhelmed in the first month, but speaking to more experienced brokers and getting out in the field helped me learn on the job,” she shares.
Tania attributes her success to her curiosity, willingness to learn, and the strong support system at Galetti.
“The support at Galetti has been amazing, especially being new to broking. I was really guided and supported every step of the way.”
Tania’s impressive start at Galetti is a testament to her adaptability, dedication, and the robust support system within the company. Her ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts has made her an asset to our Cape Town broking  team
